Student visa requirements for New Zealand

Requirement for fee-paying Visa for Indians.

  • An offer from the Kiwi universities or pathways courses with a cover letter from Pathway Education provider..
  • Evidence of paying the tuition fee.
  • Proof of the income and the source of income.
  • Photocopy of the Identity pages of the recent passport.
  • Character certificate validated by the police
  • Health certificate to show you are healthy

Some additional documentation includes:

  1. Qualification certificates, and academic transcripts.
  2. Proof of employment history.
  3. Proof that you have enough funds to support yourself to cover your living expenses during your stay.
  4. Information about your financial guarantor (Identity and relationship).
  5. English language proficiency test (such as IELTS) scores.
  6. Aadhar or Pan card.

You may also have to appear for a personal interview at the New Zealand embassy or consulate.

You can apply for an online student visa up to 120 days before your intended date of the program’s start date. Remember, your application date is the date when your application fee is paid.

English language requirements

Evidence of proficiency in the English language has to be provided to prove your communication and correspondence skills (IELTS score).

The minimum IELTS score required for your New Zealand student visa is 5.5 bands in each module and an overall score of 6.00 bands.

For a degree in Teaching or Education studies and Engineering, the per-band score and overall score should be 7.0.

Documents Required for a New Zealand Study Visa

  • A valid passport.
  • Travel history documents.
  • 2 passport-size photographs.
  • Letter of Acceptance from the University attested by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority.
  • Academic transcripts like diplomas, certificates, and degrees.
  • Duly filled Study Visa Application.
  • Application & Tuition fees receipts.

Other supporting Documents: –

  • Proof of funds for a full year of study. This may include:
  • Bank statements
  • Financial undertaking by a sponsor to cover accommodation and living costs.
  • Scholarship certificate
  • Police clearance certificate with age proof and clean criminal record, if required.
  • An X-ray report showing you do not have Tuberculosis
  • Complete medical examination report
  • Work experience letters (if applicable)
  • SOP (if required)

Digital Photograph Specifications

  • Size: 500KB to 10MB. 35mm by 45mm, with white background and 80% visibility of the face.
  • Coloured photograph not older than 6 months with no glasses.
  • Religious headgear can be worn if completely necessary.
  • Dimensions (Digital): 900×1200 pixels to 4500×6000 pixels
