Documents Needed for a UK Study Visa

  • Currently valid passport
  • Documents supporting the applicant’s history of education
  • Have been offered a place on the course by a licensed student sponsor/confirmation of Acceptance for studies from the provider
  • Document evidence of accommodation in the United Kingdom
  • Document evidence of financial stability to support yourself and pay for your course or written consent from your financial sponsor if received sponsorship
  • English language proficiency certificate (IELTS/PTE etc.)

For Degree Level or above Equivalent to CEFR level B2

For below degree level CEFR level B1

  • Report of the tuberculosis test
  • Document evidence of the sponsor’s financial status and occupation (if applicable)
  • Should have attained 18 years of age or Legal guardian’s or Parent’s consent letter if 16-17 years of age.
  • A valid ATAS if required.

Apply for your student visa 6 months before the start of your course if you are outside the UK and 3 months if from inside the UK

Your stay depends on the length of your course if are 18 or over at the degree level can stay up to 5 years and for two years if below the degree level.

You can bring your partner and children( Dependents)

What you can and cannot do on a study visa

You can:

  • study
  • work as a student union sabbatical officer

You may be able to work – how much depends on what you’re studying and whether you’re working in or out of term time.

You cannot:

  • claim public funds(benefits) and pensions
  • work in certain jobs, for example as a professional sportsperson or sports coach
  • be self-employed
  • study at an academy or a local authority-funded school (also known as a maintained school)
